Admissions & Transfer
Overview
As a school, we understand how important it is to communicate in detail our Admissions and Transfer Policy to both existing and prospective parents. However, this does not in any way, take away the power bestowed on the Lead Teacher to take the final decision as far as Admissions and Transfers are concerned.

The school would have loved to give admissions to every learner who shows interest in attending the school. However, due to standard and space, the school would always need to screen learners to know if they are qualified or not for their intending classes.

Admissions Procedure
Step 1
Prospective candidates are to obtain an Admissions Form from the school. A receipt would be issued as soon as there is evidence of payment for the form.
Step 2
The form is to be filled and returned to the school. All areas must be filled and genuine reasons must be given for areas that cannot be filled. The intention is to get as much information as possible on the learners. Photocopies of the following are also expected to be submitted:
point A copy of the student’s birth certificate
point Previous academic records, if available
point Any other document requested at the point of obtaining the form to help the school understand the prospective learners better
Step 3
Admissions will be processed and, if the candidate is cleared, date and time of Placement Test will be communicated via texts and e-mail.
The candidate will write examinations in the following subjects:
point Literacy/English
point Numeracy/Mathematics
point General Knowledge
Step 4
If the candidate is successful in the Placement Test, he/she will be invited for interview. At least one parent is expected to be present for this interview. The following will be considered during the interview:
point Ability to communicate effectively in English
point Acceptable Behaviour
point Adaptability to different situations
Step 5
After the interview, the candidate will be informed of the decision of the school through the Lead Teacher in writing.

Enrolment
Completing the admissions process does not, in any way, guarantee enrolment. Enrolment can only be guaranteed after required payment has been made by the parents. After this, the following will be given:
point Welcome Address by the Lead Teacher
point Parents’ Handbook
point Photograph Consent Form
point Excursion Consent Form

Class Placement
The school believes that beyond academic prowess, age contributes to the success of a child in school. Hence, the school adheres fully to age appropriateness in placing learners into classes. The minimum age for all classes are as follow and must be adhered to strictly:
point 2 years, 3 months – Pre-School
point 3 years, 3 months – Nursery
point 4 years, 3 months – Reception
point 5 years, 3 months – Year 1
point 6 years, 3 months – Year 2
point 7 years, 3 months – Year 3
point 8 years, 3 months – Year 4
point 9 years, 3 months – Year 5
point 10 years, 3 months – Year 6
The school does not accept nor engage in ‘step ahead’.
